Art studios

The former women’s prison in Berlin-Lichterfelde sees itself as a venue for art and culture with a queer ethos and a correspondingly open, creative and tolerant atmosphere and community. We have artists’ studios in the former prison cells within the long, light-filled cell block. The premises are heated, and the artists have access to modern sanitary facilities. There are regular art exhibitions and other public as well as external, private events held in the cell block.

Are you interested in a studio space and would like to work, create and perhaps exhibit your work here? From time to time, we have spaces available to rent. Please feel free to get in touch.

Everyone is welcome here. We practise tolerance!

Everyone is welcome here. prideART Berlin e.V. began five years ago as a queer artists’ collective led by the artist Lars Deike. Since 2022, prideART has been a non-profit association with big plans, and has found a new home in the studios within the cell block of THE KNAST. Workshops, events and exhibitions are held regularly. Access to the artists’ studios is only possible by prior arrangement with the artists or during exhibition opening hours. We live and breathe tolerance!
